Microfiber - a healthy material for your feet!
Practically everyone has heard of microfiber and knows that it’s good for things like cleaning, or as a component in sportswear, etc. Did you know that microfiber has many more uses – including in footwear? In this article, you’ll learn about the properties of microfiber and why it’s such a durable material.
What is microfiber?
Microfiber, or microfibre, is a synthetic material made from thin polyamide or polyester fibers. Using modern technology, very thin fibers are created – up to 100 times thinner than a human hair – making the material resistant to damage while remaining very soft and pleasant to the touch. Because of its properties, microfiber can be used for delicate tasks, such as working with car paints, but it also works great for cleaning.
Advantages of microfiber
What are the advantages of microfiber? There are plenty of them, and they are used in many industries: It absorbs moisture exceptionally well, making it perfect for cleaning and polishing. Due to its durability and delicacy, it is great for the clothing industry, for example, for children, athletes, and everyday use. It is completely hypoallergenic because it doesn’t let dust, dirt, or even mites pass through. Thanks to its microstructure, it is a breathable material, making it suitable for both summer and winter. It is easy to keep clean. As you can see, there are really many applications. It’s worth remembering that this is a synthetically made material, so if you prefer everything to be natural, microfiber might not be for you.
Use of microfiber in footwear production
At Magical Shoes, we use microfiber in two ways: as lining in sports shoes, so you don’t have to worry about sweaty feet because of microfiber’s breathable properties. This also allows you to enjoy the shoes longer, as less sweat means less exposure to acidic factors that could affect the material and fewer bacteria. You can find microfiber lining in our running shoes, for example. The second use of microfiber is... creating entire shoes from this material. It perfectly mimics leather while retaining all its properties, which is why models like the Women’s Vegan Minimalist Chelsea Boots - Lupino Vegan are made from it. These shoes are great for people who want footwear that resembles leather but don’t want animal products used in the production.
