How often do you come back to work after a hard day and find your feet and tired toes throbbing? They’re certainly sore; unless you’re walking in barefoot shoes (or working barefoot), they’ve probably been in a squeeze all day. This is especially true for women who have to work in stilettos or men who work in hard, so-called “crocodile” shoes. “crocodile” shoes.
There is no denying that our feet have to fight a hard battle every day. The worse the choice of footwear, the harder the battle is, and misaligned toes can be a real pain. Today, we are going to present one of the most interesting ways to relieve and prevent diseases! We are talking about toe separators.
What is a toe separator?
These are small tools that are used for, as you may have guessed, finger separation. It seems like we could end the topic there; after all, all you have to do is put in a piece of cotton wool or a cloth, and you’re done, right? Not necessarily! Nowadays, modern separators are very flexible, i.e., they can adapt to any shape or problem. This way, you can be sure that everything is arranged correctly and not by eye. As everywhere with health issues, we need to choose products that will help, not hurt.
In summary, toe separators are specially prepared products made of gel, silicone, or foam-type material. Their purpose is to expand our fingers and not allow them to overlap. Why use them, then?
Overlapping toes, hallux valgus – who would benefit from a separator?
A significant number of foot diseases start with the toes. They fight for space, do not provide a stable base for the whole body, and overlap, causing abrasions and inflammation.
The most well-known diseases that can occur through this are:
- Hallux valgus (hallux valgus toe) is a condition of the big toe of the foot that is compressed inward and causes inflammation. Left untreated, it may require surgery over time. By correcting the alignment of the toes with a separator, we can reduce the progression of this disease.
- Hammer toe, or flexion contracture This condition is caused by putting weight on the longest toes, which rest against the tip of the shoe. Most commonly caused by tight footwear, it can also occur genetically. Separation allows the inflammation to be at least partially reversed, which restores a greater range of movement to the toes.
- Claw toe is a condition in which all the toes bend unnaturally to one side or the other and cause pain. A separator prevents toe overlap, reducing discomfort and inflammation.
- Separators can also help if you often experience pain in your toes, contractures in any of your toes, or just need a ‘spa’ moment for your foot.
In fact, any person who experiences pain in the foot and toes will benefit from a few minutes a day with separators on. Wearing the separators several times can bring noticeable relief to any ailment. In the case of advanced conditions, we recommend, as usual, seeing a doctor.
Gel or foam separator? Which will be best?
Several types of toe separators can be found on the market, but we recommend the silicone separator. Created from special and flexible medical silicone, the separators will adapt to any type of adult foot and do not cause sweating of the foot or allergic reactions. Separators made from low-quality foam can deteriorate too quickly or cause flare-ups.
Remember, if you have been walking all your life in footwear that is damaging and you want to restore the proper alignment of your toes, you need to set yourself up for frequent repetition (like at the gym) and patience.
In our shop, you will find Magical Separators toe separators, made of soft and flexible medical silicone.
