These shoes are fantastic! I love them for fall/winter hiking. They are easy to put on – once you lace them, then you can just use the zipper on the side. They run a tiny bit small in my opinion. I usually wear a 37 and I got a 38 and they are great. They allow you to feel the ground, they are really flexible and comfy. They have good traction in ice and snow. For me, they are not warm enough for winter without an additional insole (I live in New England and it’s can be below freezing here, with snow or ice on the ground). I bought a shearling insole from softstar and with that, they are absolutely perfect.

The best shoe in my life. I gave up running due to injury, but recently started minimalist/barefoot running and I’m much healthier. Vivobarefoot has never been that comfortable for me. I run in Merrell Vapor Gloves & walk in Earthrunner sandals. I wanted something a little more appropriate for winter days on the US/Canadian border & discovered the Magical Shoes Alaskan boot. It is attractive, well constructed & incredibly comfortable. The Alaskan boot is the best shoe purchase I’ve made. My U.S. men’s size 11 foot sometimes fits in EUR 44 or 45, so I was worried about sizing. Based on the Magical Shoes chart, I selected EUR 45 and the boots fit perfectly. I’d like to see Magical Shoes make the same boot without the wool liner for warmer weather.

I just received mine. Ordered on October 25, and arrived in the middle of the US on November 7. The fit is good. I ordered the same 41 as a pair of winter boots I bought in Europe previously, although my usual size is 40. I have plenty of wiggle room for my toes while I can lace them up snug. Unfortunately, it’s a surprising 70F/21C today, so it’s too hot to wear them today. I’ll have to wait a couple days for the weather to turn.

These are truly barefoot winter boots. They have good ground feel and are comfortable, well made and look cool. The uppers are warm but the soles needed more insulation so I bought XL Pedag wool insoles and trimmed them to fit. Much better. The soles have great traction on ice and snow. The membrane failed quickly in my shoe but I used mink oil all over and that helped to waterproof them. They run small – I wear a 37 in Birkenstocks but needed a 39 in these to wear with correct toes or thick socks. I wish the toe box was a little wider. I also wish the sole wrapped up around the bottom of the shoe to add more protection for the leather. Mine are getting banged up around there. The side zip is very handy, but it would be easier to reach on the inside of the boot instead of the outside. The shoe laces are a tad short but they really stay tied. I was (as you can tell from my review!) a demanding customer and MS was responsive, kind, patient and helpful. Shipping to the US takes weeks, but they eventually arrived. Use paypal – if you need to return you can get reimbursed up to $30 with their free return shipping policy, just make sure you keep your shipping/customs receipts for submittal. Thanks Magical Shoes!

These arrived in the post yesterday and I’ve already tested them out dancing for a whole night and walking through wet roads and rain during the day this morning.
So far I am very impressed with this shoe! Time will show how durable they are, but if they last I’m certainly coming back here to find some awesome running shoes for the summer!
